In July of this year, more than fifty delegates from across the Caribbean, gathered to help shape the work of CCB-Eye Care Caribbean over the next several years. West Indies Cricket Council for the Blind Report

Since the 2007 Biennial General Meeting of the Caribbean Council for the Blind, the West Indies Cricket Council for the Blind (WICCB) has been registered as a legal entity in Barbados.   During the period under review, there were two Regional Tournaments. The first was held in Trinidad & Tobago in March 2008, where due to a rain-affected game, Trinidad & Tobago and Jamaica were declared joint champions. CARIBBEAN COUNCIL FOR THE BLIND (IN ASSOCIATION WITH) THE FOUNDATION FOR EYE CARE IN THE CARIBBEAN V2020 Activities – The Caribbean 2000 – 2010 Following the launch of V2020: The Right to Sight by WHO, (and building on the objectives of the National Prevention of Blindness Committees which were established in the 90’s) CCB-Eye Care Caribbean and SightSavers International, joined with the following International Organizations to launch the initiative across the Caribbean, focusing on the three (3) areas on which the Program is based: Disease Control, Human Resource Development and Infrastructure Development.

V2020 initiatives: Pursuant to our commitment to Vision 2020 (The Right To Sight) the CCB maintains active partnerships with MOHs and more than 30 hospitals and other health facilities in the public sector, across CARICOM. Education Services: In support of education services for children with blindness or visual impairments, CCB engages with education authorities in: Antigua & Barbuda; Barbados, The Bahamas, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines & Trinidad & Tobago.
