Professor, The Hon. Michael Pean<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Born in Haiti, he lost his sight during his second year of University, but went on to<\/span>
i) The BSc. in Political Science and French Literature from Bordeaux University.<\/span><\/p>\n

ii) The Masters Degree in French Literature and Education – Boston College, USA.<\/span><\/p>\n

iii) The PhD. in French Literature, 19th and 20th Century and Linguistics – Boston.<\/span><\/p>\n

iv) Assistant Professorship – Boston College, USA.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 1987 he returned to Haiti:<\/span><\/p>\n

v) Appointed Professor of French Literature and Linguistics at University of Quisqueya; <\/span>Complementing his outstanding academic achievements with national service, Professor<\/span><\/p>\n

vi) National Coordinator of Haitian Society of and for the Blind (SHAA)<\/span><\/p>\n

vii) Consultant to the Ministry of Education<\/span><\/p>\n

viii) National Secretary of RANIPH – A National Grouping of thirty (30) Associations<\/span>
and Institutions working with Persons with Disabilities.<\/span><\/p>\n

ix) Chairman of the Francophone Zone of CCB and Member of the Organization’s<\/span><\/p>\n

In May of 2007, The President of Haiti, Rene Preval, appointed Professor Pean to the<\/span>
x) Portfolio – Secretary of State for the Integration of Disabled Persons.<\/span><\/p>\n

In recognition of his extraordinary pioneering spirit, Professor Pean was presented with <\/span>The James Alves Outstanding Achiever Award for 2009, by the Caribbean Council for <\/span>the Blind, during the Opening Ceremony (and Presentation of The James Alves Awards – <\/span>2009 Edition), of its 2009 Biennial General Meeting held at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort <\/span>on Thursday July 30th, 2009.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
