Any of the six countries unable or unwilling to contribute\u00a0to the development of a good enough (basic) national proposal, may be excluded from the overall\u00a0regional programme,\u201d Grant said.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The inclusion of five the selected countries, is a direct flow, from their participation in the\u00a0Diabetic Retinopathy Situation Analysis, conducted by the Head of the United Kingdom\u2019s largest\u00a0Diabetic Retinopathy screening and treatment Programme, Dr. Mike Eckstein, in June, 2013.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Council is particularly gratified that this initiative fits well with our current preparations to\u00a0launch the Caribbean Diabetic Retinopathy KAP (Knowledge Attitudes and Practice) study, in:\u00a0Antigua-Barbuda, Barbados,\u00a0Guyana, Jamaica and St. Lucia.<\/p>\n<p>The research proposal is being finalized for submission to the Institution Review Board (IRB)\u00a0UWI, Barbados,\u201d the CEO added.<\/p>\n<p>In order to facilitate the development of national proposals, which will in turn inform the wider\u00a0regional proposal, CCB\/Eye Care Caribbean will assign Carl Browne, a public health\u00a0professional, to visit the six countries.<\/p>\n<p>Browne, who has functioned and consulted at national, regional and international levels will begin\u00a0the project in a few weeks, on a date to be announced.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCarl possesses strong core competencies in the areas of leadership, communication and team\u00a0working.
