\"NewA visually impaired woman was burnt to death Wednesday night inside the house she was occupying at Stanleytown, New Amsterdam.<\/p>\n

Dead is 52-year old Hazel Johnson. Her charred remains were found near a door on the bottom flat.<\/p>\n

The fire occurred at 31 Stanleytown, New Amsterdam. The house was owned by Patrick Benon, who had decades ago headed a secretarial school.<\/p>\n

The woman lived there for two years.<\/p>\n

The woman is survived by two sons Clairmont, who is in the United States, and Chris who lives in Georgetown.<\/p>\n

Residents told demwaves.com that the area was in blackout. The fire started in a front room of the two-flat building where the woman had occupied.<\/p>\n

Another occupant, whose only name is Jean, returned home from church and found the house gutted and all her belongings destroyed.<\/p>\n
