The Tower Hotel in Guyana &amp; the School for the Blind in Jamaica rotated as Summer Campuses for the 3-year project. \n&nbsp;\n<strong>1989 - Jamaica<\/strong> - Established the Regional Diploma in The Education of Teachers of the VI \u2013 Mico Teachers College. Initiative, eventually replaced by an ORBIS-led initiative.&nbsp;&nbsp; (\n&nbsp;\n<strong>2000&nbsp;&nbsp; (July) - Trinidad &amp; Tobago -<\/strong> * Coordinating &amp; participating in the launch of V2020 in the Caribbean \u2013 Tobago. Resulting in special focus on: Cataract surgery; Management &amp; treatment of glaucoma; Detection and treatment of diabetic Retinopathy; Treatment of conditions which could lead to blindness or visual impairment in children &amp; Refractive Error &amp; low vision services.&nbsp; All as a complement to education, training and other adjustment services for persons whose sight cannot be restored.\n&nbsp;\n<strong>&nbsp;2001 \u2013 Secretariat \u2013<\/strong> Formalized decision to establish a Resource Mobilization Unit within the Council\u2019s Secretariat.\n&nbsp;\n<strong>2001 (July) \u2013 Nassau Bahamas \u2013<\/strong> Relocation of the faculty of the V2020 Planning Module to train Senior Nurses, Doctors and Administrators of Member Agencies and Partners (from 8 countries) in \u201cPlanning and Managing Community Eye Health Programmes\u201d. \n&nbsp;\n<strong>2002 -&nbsp;&nbsp; Starting in Mandeville, Jamaica -<\/strong> Development &amp; implementation of a cost recovery program supporting provision of cataract surgery in&nbsp;&nbsp; ten hospitals across the Caribbean- Program&nbsp;&nbsp; is at different stages of implementation.\n&nbsp;\n<strong>2003 - Trinidad &amp; Tobago -<\/strong> Regional Advocacy workshop \u2013 Developed and initiated a rights-based approach to certain of Council\u2019s programming;\n&nbsp;\n<strong>2004<\/strong> - Commenced&nbsp; development of basic V2020 advocacy strategy requiring: Appointment of National Focal persons; Hosting of a regional symposium for National focal persons; Establishment or revamping of National Committees; Appointment of National Coordinator; Development &amp; implementation of national plans and Programs. \n&nbsp;\n<strong>2004 (Barbados) -<\/strong>&nbsp; Commence training of National IT Instructors, to operate national training labs, as part of the Regional Information Technology Services for the visually impaired.&nbsp; A 2nd regional training lab is about to be launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Education in Jamaica.
